William Trubridge and Carlos Coste are among the freedivers who will be competing in the Caribbean Freediving Cup this coming May.
The event will take place on May 24-31, 2014, just off the Honduran island of Roatan. According to the organizers:
“Since we began to look into the process of organizing an international competition in Roatan, we started seeking advice and expertise from professional freedivers and their governing body: AIDA, in particular William Trubridge. The first edition of the Caribbean Cup (2013) was held in a warm atmosphere, athletes from the 5 continents congregate and established 1 world record, as well as 4 continental records and 20 national records; reaching important medias all over the world, such as CNN TV, CNN International, CNN en Español, Fox Sports Latinoamerica, Huffington Post; DeeperBlue, Silverkris Magazine (Singapore Airlines), Acuadeus Magazine (France), Sun+ Magazine (UK), Scuba Diver Life (USA), The Inertia Magazine, Sportsub.net (Venezuela), Wnsports Magazine (Colombia), Voice Magazine (Honduras), Radio W (Colombia), Prawno Apparel, Publimetro Magazine (Colombia), Centro de Actividades Subacuáticas (Venezuela).”
Competitors, judges and staff will be housed at the Mayan Princess Resort as well as the Infinity Bay Resort, both in West Bay.
The cost if the entry fee is US$1,000 for the first 20 competitors to confirm their participation through payment, and US$1,200 for those who confirm after the first 20 registrants. Participants also have the option of paying 50 percent before April 1st and the remaining 50 percent at the time of the official registration (24 May).
Registration includes:
* Hosting at Infinity Bay Resort or Mayan Princes Resort during the event.
* Participation in the 3 disciplines of competition (CWT, CNF, FIM).
* Right to use the training lines in the weeks prior to competition.
* Participation in two draws (excluding the second if you win the first) for a trip in the submarine Idabel Entrance to the closing ceremony party.
